Inca Quarry Trail Is A Trek Adventure To Machu Picchu. Choose Ancascocha, Moonstone And Ccachicata To Visit Peru

Are you thinking of visiting Machu Picchu through the famous Inca Trail?

We must tell you that to get to Machu Picchu on foot there are several alternatives, because if you are reading this text in March to May, you may see the tickets sold out until November. (This topic will be covered later.)

One of the new alternatives is the Inca Quarry Trail, which has surely been mentioned by some friends or acquaintances who have already made this experience unforgettable.

This route, unlike the Inca Trail, does not lead directly to Machu Picchu (The Inca Trail does, and allows you a wonderful view of the Inti Punku), however, you will visit Machu Picchu on the last day of the tour.

Then, you can try the combined alternative, Inca Quarry Trail and Inca Trail.

Why is it an alternative to the Inca Trail?

Because of its beautiful landscapes and it is one of the most beautiful walks in Peru and Latin America, however it is not very crowded (unlike the Inca Trail that sometimes has many travelers) and few travelers have done it. Its beauty has caught the attention of many connoisseurs of walks and that is why you are here.

We have said that it does not lead directly to Machu Picchu. To clarify, the tour can start in Ollantaytambo, then visit the Inca Stone Quarry (Inca Quarry) to reach the Sun Gate. The following days you can visit other places depending on the tour (Moonstone Trek, Ancascocha Trek, or the Inca Quarry Trek).

The one day before last one,  you arrive (or return) to Ollantaytambo, take the train and the next day (Last day of the Tour) you visit Machu Picchu very early, which is recommended.

Starting, arriving or returning to Ollantaytambo depends of the tour.

The small towns far from the city and places as high as Charcahuallya at 4450 meters above sea level (On the Inca Trail the highest place is Death Woman Pass at 4200 meters above sea level) make the difference for the Inca Quarry Trail. You can see mountains with snow-capped peaks like the Veronica when you arrive at the Sun Gate that make the Inca Quarry different.
